Ragging is a crime as per Supreme Court directives. It can be defined as any act likely to cause physical or psychological harm, shame, or embarrassment to a student on campus, including:"


• Teasing, harming, playing practical jokes on, or causing offence to any student.


• Asking any student to do or perform any act they would not, in the ordinary course, be willing to do.

Physical abuse:- Force any student to eat or drink anything, smoke, wear unusual dress, undress, or do any unwanted act.

Verbal abuse:- Passing comments on a student's personal appearance, outfit, religion, caste, family, or chosen field of study; or forcing any activity

Observation & Directives of the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of India has observed that enrolment in academic pursuits or a campus life should not immunize any adult citizen from the penal provisions of the laws of the land. According to Supreme Court directives, if any case of ragging is brought to the knowledge of the administration or faculty, we are legally bound to inform the local police. Any ragging matter at VGI group should be reported to the internal Anti Ragging Committee of the VGI.
