Shri Venkateshwara University held a seminar to help farmers increase their income by improving sugarcane productivity.
Shri Venkateshwara University/Institute hosted a 1 day seminar on Increasing Sugarcane Productivity for Enhancing Farmer’s Income wherein renowned Agriculture Scientist Dr Bakshiram Yadav was the Chief Guest.
The Venkateshwara Group Founder President Dr Sudhir Giri, CG Eminent Agriculture Scientist Dr Bakshiram Yadav & the Pro Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp to Goddess Saraswati.
The VC Dr Krishna Kant Dave & the Principal Agriculture Scientist & Director SVU School of Agricultural Sciences Dr Tejpal Singh joined them to unveil the seminar on Increasing Sugarcane Productivity for Enhancing Farmer’s Income.
The Venkateshwara Group Founder President Dr Sudhir Giri, along with the Pro Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi, felicitated Dr Bakshiram Yadav by gifting him a bouquet, shawl and a memento.
Renowned scientist Dr. Bakshiram Yadav advised students, agricultural scientists, and farmers to choose better sugarcane varieties and improve pest management for higher-quality crops at lower expenses. He mentioned that processing sugarcane can increase farmers’ income by four times.
Moreover, he informed the best sugarcane variety is CO 038 which he developed in the year 2009.
By growing this high yielding variety and better crop management, farmers can have a yield of 100 tons per hectare, which has more than doubled farmer’s income.
Along with progressive farming, we should encourage farmers for animal husbandry, organic farming and food processing so that their income grows four folds.
Moreover, the Venkateshwara Group Founder President Dr Sudhir Giri reiterated agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy. Along with organic farming/food processing, and dairy industry, the agriculture sector is the backbone of India’s strong GDP.
Further, the Pro Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi asserted after the establishment of a Soil Testing Lab at Shri Venkateshwara University, farmers of UP west can get their soil tested for better productivity.
The Pro Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi, VC Dr Krishna Kant Dave, Registrar Dr Piyush Pandey, & the Agriculture Scientists Dr TP Singh & Dr CP Singh also addressed the seminar.
Those present included the Registrar Dr Piyush Pandey, Dr Rajesh Singh, Dr Jyoti Singh, Dr Mata Prasad, Dr Laxmikant Dr Sheshnath Mishra, Dr Brijkishore, Dr VK Singh, Dr Abhishek Singh, & Dr Chandrakant.
Dr Varun Tripathi, Kaushal Kumar, Udit Tiwari were all present. The Meerut Campus Director, Dr Pratap Singh, was present along with the Media Incharge, Mr. Vishwas Rana, among others.
Dr Jyoti, along with Dr Vinay Kumar, conducted the program brilliantly well.
