Shri Venkateshwara University celebrated World Earth Day with a mass tree-planting drive and an awareness rally.
Shri Venkateshwara University/Institute celebrated World Earth Day 2025 by organizing mass tree plantation drive and awareness rally for environmental protection. On this occasion, we hosted a debate on the topic Environmental protection is a global need and a fundamental duty wherein 150 students took part.
We planted over 501 fruit-bearing, shady plants on campus and along the highway. We also held a rally to promote environmental protection and conservation.
The Venkateshwara Group Founder President Dr Sudhir Giri pledged students & staff to conserve nature and prevent the overexploitation of natural resources.
Founder President Dr Sudhir Giri, Pro Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi, VC Dr KK Dave and Dr Madhu Chaturvedi inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp to Goddess Saraswati.
The Venkateshwara Group Founder President Dr Sudhir Giri reiterated because of climate change & uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources, the world is experiencing global warming.
The result is we are experiencing temperatures to the tune of 40-45 degree Celsius in April itself. If this continues unabated, we are heading towards a catastrophe. We need to plant enough trees in record time to conserve the environment.
The Pro Chancellor Dr Rajeev Tyagi asserted we will have to face unprecedented consequences if we didn’t plant enough trees to protect our environment. Therefore, we should not only plant trees but also vow to protect & conserve them for life.
The VC Dr Krishna Kant Dave affirmed we should pledge to not only plant enough trees but commit to conserve and protect them for life.
Renowned Environmentalist Dr Madhu Chaturvedi asserted let’s do enough tree plantation to turn the Earth green and bring about green revolution.
The judging committee shortlisted candidates for the first, second and third position based on their performance in the debate on Environmental protection is a global need and a fundamental duty .
Arpit Gautam and Pradum Bhati from the School of Paramedical Sciences won the 1st place followed by Anshika Pal and Muskan from the School of Commerce & Management who came second. While Harsh Kumar and Yash Sharma from the School of Pharmacy grabbed the 3rd spot.
Aman, Abbas & Mohd. Mateen from the School of Nursing received the encouragement award for their exemplary performance.
The winners were presented with gold, silver and bronze medals, respectively. All participants received the participation certificate from the dignitaries.
Those present included the CEO Mr. Ajay Shrivastava, Registrar Dr Piyush Pandey, Dr VN Jha, Dr SN Sahu, Dr Rajesh Singh, Dr Ana Erik Brown, Dr Yogeshwar Sharma, and Dr Ashutosh Singh.
Dr Om Prakash Gosai, Dr Dinesh Kr. Gautam, Dr Anil Jaiswal, Dr Tejpal Singh, Dr Reena Joshi, Dr Arti Gupta, Dr Anjali Bhardwaj, Tanushree Vyas, Dr Snehlata Goswami, Dr Vikas Kr. Pandey were all present.
Also present were Mrs. Deeksha Jadaun, and Anjali Thakur. The Meerut Campus Director, Dr Pratap Singh, was present along with the Media Incharge, Mr. Vishwas Rana, among others.
