A study by Bain & Company found that Indian pharmaceutical industry is transforming from a volume driven to a value driven one.

This requires serious investment in R & D so that Indian companies develop innovative formulations for anti-cancer, anti-diabetes and other life-threatening ailments.

Biosimilars, valued at around $30 billion, make up about 7% of the $410 billion global biopharmaceutical market. The market for biosimilars is expected to grow at 20% per year, reaching $100 billion by 2030.

This growth is driven by factors such as the increasing use of biologics, a rise in chronic diseases treated by biosimilars, regulatory changes, a growing demand for affordable therapies, and the upcoming expiration of patents for many biologics.

In the next seven years, 130 drug patents worth $180 billion will expire, creating significant opportunities for Indian companies.

The crux of the matter is this is the opportune time to pursue a bachelor of pharmacy course because India is at the gateway of the massive export potential of pharmaceuticals.
