What is counselling

Share

Counselling is the art of understanding a person’s hidden fears, aptitude, capabilities & guiding him to use his assets to achieve their goals.

Counseling means diagnosing the fears of the client & providing solutions to mitigate those fears.

We train counsellors to understand their clients, lessen their fears, recognize their talents & motivate them to use their potential for success.

The need for counsellors has risen owing to performance pressure, causing intense competition in different fields.

Parents force children to excel in exams, causing anxiety affecting their personality, thus demanding expert counselling.

Counsellors have a helping attitude because the counselee expects them to relieve his anxieties. Further, they should adopt a neutral attitude while counselling because then only they know the issue & provide solutions.

Besides, India is a populous nation where people compete till they get settled in life, encountering stressful situations. These lead to anxieties, which amplify overtime requiring the need for counselling.

Parents push children to score well because society foresees a bright future for those who are academically bright.

This expectation forces students to study long hours, often affecting their mental wellbeing because one should perform all activities in equilibrium.

We attribute the growing number of suicides among youngsters to the lack of professional counselling because they receive no help for their problem. Unemployment is forcing many to end their lives because they cannot get any counselling support for their difficulties.

India’s education system appreciating grades over skills is causing distress because graduates cannot get jobs, resulting in anxiety.

Skills pay the bills should be the motto of all education institutions because degrees cannot fetch jobs.

People should not push themselves too hard because all good thing takes time to reach zenith.

Parents should not reprimand their wards because every human has a hidden trait they should nurture through counselling.

What is Counselling – Unearthing the hidden talent

Every human has a skill through which they earn their livelihood because no one is born without a talent. Therefore, the counsellor is vital because they recognize those skills, & motivate the counselee to improve them for success.

Likewise, doctors who were academically good struggle in practice because they have knowledge but poor application.

Many Doctors were anxious in their college days for not scoring well because our society values grades over skills further, demotivating the skilled.

Meanwhile, their talent improved by practicing in hospitals, further establishing them as a renowned doctor.

Counsellors recognize talents, & guides in improving their skill, leading to success in the desired field.

Parents should never force their children to choose careers they dislike because children struggle to excel in unwanted careers.

Noticeable here is the counselling team at VGI Meerut that counsels students according to their interest & recommends careers according to their aptitude.

Counselling is important because, with increased competition, people are pushing their limit, causing anxiety.

They should understand they will be successful in professions they enjoy rather than those which are forced upon them.
