Teacher by Chance & not by Choice

Share

One could be a teacher by chance & not by choice, but the respect a teacher receives should inspire in becoming a teacher by choice.

Teachers are the nation builders because they nurture the future of the country. They should teach well so that students like the subject.

This is especially true for Science & Mathematics because they foster innovation in Science & technology. It’s not enough for teachers to finish the syllabus, they need to inculcate concepts.

Most students fear mathematics because teachers cannot explain the concepts easily.

Teachers should acknowledge that a student studies 7-8 subjects in school, giving them little time for excellence in math & science.

They have doubts in crucial topics because teachers cannot clarify their doubts owing to time pressures.

A teacher, by choice, approaches his subject appropriately so that students grasp the concept with clarity.

This requires sustained efforts because the teacher refers to multiple books & prepares the notes accordingly.

By clarifying the topic well such that students are thorough with the concept, differentiates a teacher by chance from a teacher by choice.

The passionate teacher will burn the lamp because his passion compels to work for better understanding.

This banishes the need for tuitions because children already spend considerable time in schools.

When teachers cannot explain in class, students seek better options outside schools for conceptual clarity.

This inability of teachers is fueling the coaching industry, putting undue financial pressure on the parents.

The coaching industry in India is worth over 50000 crores because of poor effort from school teachers.

Imagine a student spending 10 hours a day attending school & coaching because the School teachers failed to clarify the doubts.

Teacher by Chance & not by Choice is unfortunate

This stretches the students because the syllabus & the performance pressure is immense.

Teachers by choice will devise innovative teaching-learning methods & assess students well that segregates students who have understood from those who haven’t.

This is the ability of an ideal teacher because they spend years in mastering their subject.

If they cannot clarify doubts, then imagine the child’s fate who studies 7–8 subjects for the exams.

Many school drop outs attribute this to lack of interest in subjects because teachers cannot connect with students.

The ability to gain attention & hold it for a longer duration depends on the quality of teaching. All the topics are available in books. Then why do we need teachers?

We need them for conceptual clarity because most exams asses’ concepts & not marks gained in schools.

Experts prepare NCERT books, enabling students to grasp concepts with ease.

I exhort teachers to ensure conceptual clarity because it dissuades students from attending coaching classes.

Reputed schools attract excellent teachers by paying them well because they position their schools as one destination for all student needs.

Schools hire Experts

They hire Science & mathematics experts who clarify concepts in school itself so that students excel in boards & competitive examinations.

This eliminates the need for coaching because they teach with passion because they are concerned about their reputation. Students get ample time for self-study because self-study is indispensable for success.

In schools, teachers should clarify doubts because it is their job. They should prepare study material that fosters conceptual clarity because they are knowledgeable enough.

Students admire teachers who teach with passion because they help students overcome academic difficulties. They exhibit empathy — an important trait because students approach them whenever in doubt.

Teachers should be accommodative to different learning curves of students because every child is unique. They should involve students in the learning process because experiential learning is vital for understanding.
