The Pharmacists are the vital bridge between the Doctor & patient because they dispense drugs as prescribed by the Doctor. They are the health workers who ensure the patient receives the correct medicine in the prescribed dosage. 

The world acknowledged their worth when they worked alongside Doctors to fight the Corona pandemic. The helped patients get their daily dose of medicines as they worked during the lockdown. 

Had the pharmacists not devised the Corona vaccine, millions would have succumbed to the pandemic, causing immense loss of life & wealth. The life of pharmacist revolves around providing medication to the ill & counselling patients about the correct drug regimen.

They manage inventory to ensure they honor prescriptions without fail because medicines are vital for health.

Pharmacists maintain healthy relations with suppliers, whole sellers, Doctors & customers because they are vital for a healthy life. 

They counsel patients on the right way to take medicines because they know about the drug interaction with the body. This ensures the patient has no adverse effects of the medicine, leading to faster recovery. 

As Pharmacists run retail pharmacy, they guide company representatives about the market potential of a Doctor. This helps companies introduce medicines to doctors who prescribe them for faster recovery.

Hospital Pharmacist is no different. They perform the above tasks on a mass scale because they serve many people with various types of ailments.

They dispense medicines, prepare dosage, manage inventory, counsel patients & order requirements for timely delivery. 

The life of a pharmacist revolves around coordinating with Doctors about the shortfall of any medicines & informing the alternatives available for faster recovery.

They are an integral part of the health ecosystem because medicines are indispensable for life. 

Hospitals undergo various types of surgeries that are prone to infections. On the order of the Doctors, the Pharmacists maintain required stocks of antibiotics that cull infections & save lives.

The hospital pharmacy works 24*7 as emergency can occur anytime, hence they serve people when other pharmacies are closed.

A hospital pharmacist also maintains a stock of anesthetics because Doctors use them in surgeries and accidental cases for mitigating pain.

Role of Pharmacist

The pharmacist’s primary role is to dispense medicines as prescribed by the Doctor & explain the dosage regimen to the patients. They are experts in the interaction of medicine with the body, so they guide about the optimum way to take medicines.

The Pharmacists play a vital role in maintaining health because they honour Doctor’s prescriptions & guide patients on the best way of taking medicines.

Without them, people would struggle to remain healthy because medicines provide relief from the disease.

They store vaccines & medical instruments like BP Checker & thermometers that diagnose the disease and provide OTC medicines for faster recovery.

Pharmacists maintain health by dispensing diapers & sanitary napkins that are vital for hygiene. In fact, the Pharmacists have revolutionized the healthcare system by dispensing products that were a taboo a decade ago.

Modern trade practices like door step delivery have allowed the elderly get their required dose of medicines without visiting the store.

Pharmacist salary

The salary of a pharmacist depends on the job profile & years of experience because firms pay well to people with better skill that mature with experience.

On an average, a pharmacist earns INR 400000 annually to sky is the limit because after experience they can open their pharmacy store where the earning is unlimited.

With improved standard of living, people can afford the best medical care, leading to a healthy life. The large number of pharmacy stores is a proof that Pharmacists have an unlimited earning potential.

They ensure health by honoring Doctor’s prescriptions because they are the bridge between the Doctors & the patient.

Those with higher qualifications, like B Pharma & M Pharma, can venture into R & D, where they develop new molecules for the export market.

An R & D executive has an average annual salary of INR 567000, while scientific officers earn over INR 10 lakhs.

How to become a pharmacist

To become a pharmacist, students should pass their 12th class with science subjects because people with PCM/PCB/PCMB are eligible to do D Pharma & B pharma.

They should check the admission notifications because many colleges admit candidates through entrance test while others consider 12th class marks.

The D Pharmacy admission in UP takes place through the UPSEE (UPCET) Uttar Pradesh Common Entrance Test that shortlists candidates for the various colleges in the state. 

Some of the prominent entrance tests for D Pharmacy admission are GUJCET, BITSAT, UPSEE, MHCET, MET, and the Jamia Hamdard Entrance test.

Further, institutes like NMIMS, ISF, JSS Academy Mysore, DIPSAR New Delhi, & the SRM college of Pharmacy shortlist candidates based on their score in the 12th exam because it’s a criterion for academic excellence. 

Many institutes consider both the score in the entrance exam along with the 12th marks for D Pharmacy admission 2023 because there is a high demand for the D Pharma course. 

Candidates should check the CUET 2023 notification because many institutes will consider the CUET score for D Pharmacy admission 2023. The CUET notification is out & the last date to apply is March the 12th.
