Venkateshwara Group of Institutions (VGI) Meerut conducted a tree plantation drive on its campus because trees improve the ecology of the area.
They are important for purifying the air & prevent soil erosion because roots prevent the soil from eroding. They foster rainfall, which helps in improving the fertility of the soil.
For a nation like India, we should understand the importance of trees because 60% of our population depends on agriculture.
The rapid urbanization is causing deforestation which is contributing towards global warning.
We included fast depleting varieties of Kaitha, Chilbil, Mahua, Seesham, Kadam, Girni, Dhak, Arjun, Palash, Amaltash, among others in the tree plantation drive because these are indigenous trees.
The Campus Director Dr Pratap Singh, Dean Registrar Dr Ravi Shankar, Registrar Vikas Kaushik, Director of Education Dr B C Dubey, Director Pharmacy Dr Sunder Singh, Director of Admissions Alka Singh along with DGM Deepak Kumar inaugurated the event by planting saplings in the campus.
Those present included the Principal of Pharmacy Mr. Yogesh Barsilia, Swati Kamboj, Ritu Verma, Swati Arora, Shiva Kant, and Gaurav Vashisht & Abhinav Rana.
Also present were Mr. Abhishek Maheshwari, Media In charge, Mr. Vishwas Rana among others.
