Anti Ragging

Ragging is a crime as per direction of Supreme Court. We can define Ragging as doing of any act which is likely to cause and physical, physiological harm or shame or embarrassment to any student in the campus.
• Teasing or harming of playing Practical joke on, or causing offended to any student.
• Ask any student to do any act, or execute anything, which he/she would not want to do, in the ordinary course, be willing to do or perform.

Following types of abuses and activities will be labelled as ragging

Physical abuse: - force any student to eat anything, drink or smoke or force to weak dress or undress for force to do any unwanted thing.

Verbal abuse: - Pass comments on personal appearance, outfit, religions, caster family or chosen field of study. Forced activity.

Observation & Directives of the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of India has observed that enrolment in academic pursuits or a campus life should not immunize any adult citizen from the penal provisions of the laws of the land. According to the directions of the Supreme Court if any case of ragging is brought to the knowledge of admin or faculty staff, it is legally binding on us to inform to local police. Any ragging matter at VGI group should be reported to the internal Anti Ragging Committee of the VGI.

Anti-Ragging Committee, Anti-Ragging Squad and Mentor cell have been constituted at VGI, Meerut which comprises of:

  • Chief Proctor
  • Faculty Members
  • Staff member
  • Representatives of civil and police administration
  • Local media person
  • Representative of NGO
  • Representatives of parents and students
